Today we are all reminded again of the terrible tragedy on 9-11-2001 when our country was attacked by terrorists. I remember exactly where I was at the moment I heard…living in California at the time, it was early morning and I had gone out for my usual morning walk with my neighbor. As I opened the front door upon my return my husband yelled “come here you won’t believe it, but we’ve been attacked!” He was standing in front of our television with a look of disbelief on his face, as I stood next to him I said “What the hell has happened?” At that moment our phone was ringing with a friend asking if we had the TV on. We watched that morning for hours and hours asking ourselves how could this happen in America, on our soil?
I think many American’s wonder could this happen again, are we any safer now than in 2001? Is the world still so filled with hatred at American’s? If we look beyond the politics of 911 I ask myself, is our world more or less peaceful than in 2001, can there be a global shift in consciousness from hatred to love, from war to peace? or has hatred taken over that consciousness?
I think many people are posing these questions as we ponder where we were on 9-11-2001.
