Tonight Gabriella and I went to a fund raising event for a fellow candidate who is running for the State Senate, what impressed me most about this man was that he said I’m a business man, not a career politician. I’ve never run for public office before, but I know how to balance a budget and run a company – qualities he indicated were lacking in the State now.
He humbly said “I only have three things to give and that is honesty, integrity and hard work” – qualities that seem to be lacking in so many of our public servants – have so many forgotten that they are their to serve the people? And if they have forgotten, why do we not hold them accountable? In the private sector, if you did your job in less than a satisfactory way you most likely would be fired, so why don’t we fire our government officials, after all we hired them in the first place.
